Turismo critico. Immaginari geografici, performance e paradossi sulle rotte del turismo alternativo

Abstract

The book aims, first, to offer a critical perspective and go beyond the interpretations of space tourism as a container of resources and vocations to shed light on the complex articulations that feed the relationship between representation and practice of the places turisticizzati. The title of the book implies the idea of investigating these joints from the perspective of particular forms of tourism are considered "alternative", ranging from tourism attentive to the environmental, ecological and cultural tourism policy. The text, through a series of case studies, from the Galapagos to India, from Chiapas to Salento, wants to investigate geographical and imaginary meanings that are produced on the site or on particular types of places and practices of alternative tourism. The objective is to analyze the modoin where these imaginary were formed and what are their effects on the complex and often paradoxical mode of representation of the organization of space tourism and the behavior of locals and 'foreigners'.
