Abstract

Forme della comunicazione e funzione comunicativa della religione sono temi centrali degli studi negli ultimi due decenni, che focalizzano una serie di dinamiche come interazione, condivisione, riconoscimento, identità. Nei nuovi orientamenti nella storia delle religioni, a partire dagli anni ’90 del secolo scorso, al paradigma centrale del culto – interesse che ha dominato a lungo come una delle unità centrali della storiografia delle religioni antiche – si è progressivamente sostituita una sempre maggiore attenzione verso ritrovamenti locali e regionali, come pure verso confronti sovra-regionali, rinunciando così alla ricerca di fattori unitari. I maggiori centri cultuali della religiosità tradizionale nella provincia di Achaia durante il II sec. d. C. offrono molteplici testimonianze di un articolato processo di trasformazione strutturale relativo non solo alla morfologia dello stesso spazio sacro, ma anche al tipo di comunicazione religiosa che vi aveva luogo. L’indagine verte su tali dinamiche di ‘restauro’-recupero-riattivazione di aree sacre colamdno una considerevole lacuna negli studi inerenti la cultura delle province orientali nei secoli dell’impero romano
