Abstract

Nel contributo viene introdotto il significato del termini per poi illustrare il principio di funzionamento e l' applicazione del georadar (Ground Penetrating Radar) è una metodica geofisica non distruttiva che permette di investigare la struttura interna di un materiale attraverso l’utilizzo di impulsi elettromagnetici di breve durata temporale. Gli impulsi sono inviati da un’antenna trasmittente posta in contatto con la superficie, mentre gli echi di ritorno vengono acquisiti da una antenna ricevente che li invia al computer. La diversa proprietà elettrica dei materiali così pure dell’interfaccia produce la riflessione degli impulsi elettromagnetici, originando una immagine elettromagnetica. Il georadar trova applicazione per evidenziare difetti o danni strutturali quali: cavità, fratture, fessurazioni, infiltrazioni di umidità, distacchi superficiali. Inoltre, può essere utilizzato, per visualizzare la struttura interna di muri, solai, pavimentazioni, colonne e fondazioni permettendo anche di verificare la presenza di strutture metalliche nei manufatti e per individuare strutture sepolte.
