Durabilità (restauro)

Authors: ESPOSITO, Daniela;

Durabilità (restauro)

Abstract

The contribution highlights how the concept of durability is a criterion at the base of the methodology of restoration in the modern sense and refers to the need to take action on the matter of the monuments, in order to safeguard and transmit to the future, in a timely manner and effectively with regard to the duration in time. From Late Latin d? R? B? L? T? S, gen. -? Tis ("being durable"), durability expresses, in its etymology derived from the Latin verb d? Ro, inf. -? King, the quality of an object and an intervention that lasts extended in time with strength and stability characteristics of the material. The concept is associated in modern thought in the field of restoration, the criteria of reversibility, chemical-physical compatibility, minimal intervention and distinctness.
