Figurative 3D models for architecture surveys refer to the category of processing activities which result in a reality reproducing documentation worked out for purely informative purposes. In order to adequately represent reality three-dimensional models must be endowed with two basic features: enable the recognition of individual parts, i.e. follow the basic geometry which describes the object represented, and apply photographic textures able to integrate the formal information of the model through the colour differences of its component materials. A deeper analysis of these to elements helps us understand exhaustively the specificity of this particular model typology. The recognizability of individual parts can be defined as the mental process which makes it possible to divide a complex architectural element into sub-elements based on a simpler geometry.
