Abstract

The aim of this doctoral thesis was to establish the role that architectural order had in the early works of Michelangelo Buonarroti (and thus with reference not only to built architecture but also to painted and sculpted architecture) through an in-depth investigation of its constituent characters: syntax, proportions, morphology. The essay investigates the premises of this research, the difficulties encountered and the methodologies adopted to overcome them; finally, it illustrates in more detail the reasoning conducted in relation to a topic of the thesis that responds to the theme of the seminar in which I took part, namely the relationship with Antiquity.
