Good Governance for Smart Villages: A Bibliometric Review

Abstract

This study explores the intersection of good governance and smart village initiatives through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. Smart villages, defined as rural areas leveraging information technologies and collaborative networks to achieve development goals, are examined in the context of good governance principles. The research highlights the importance of governance attributes such as participation, transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in fostering sustainable rural development. Utilizing Scopus as the primary database, the study employs performance analysis and science mapping to evaluate the contributions and intellectual interactions within the field. The findings reveal a significant global interest in smart village research, with notable contributions from various countries and institutions. Key themes identified include sustainable development, climate-smart agriculture, information and communication technology, energy management, and policy frameworks. The study underscores the need for future research to prioritize good governance principles, thereby enhancing the integration of these principles within smart village studies. This bibliometric review provides a foundational understanding of the current landscape and suggests directions for future research to address the challenges and opportunities in smart village development.
