Authors: OLIVERIO, Marco;

Coralliophilinae (Neogastropoda: Muricidae) from the southwest Pacific

Abstract

Bibliographic and archival reference record for: Oliverio, M. 2008. Coralliophilinae (Neogastropoda: Muricidae) from the southwest Pacific. In: Héros, V., Cowie, R.H. & Bouchet, P. (eds), Tropical Deep-Sea Benthos 25. Mémoires du Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle 196: 481–585. This work constitutes a major regional revision of the Coralliophilinae of the southwest Pacific, based on material collected during oceanographic expeditions to New Caledonia, including the Coral Sea, mainland New Caledonia, and the Loyalty Islands, as well as Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, Fiji, and Tonga. According to the published abstract, the study documents 97 coralliophiline species, including 13 species described as new to science: Coralliophila candidissima, C. bathus, C. norfolk, C. xenophila, C. cancellarioidea, Babelomurex natalabies, B. pallox, B. depressispiratus, B. macrocephalus, Hirtomurex marshalli, Mipus tonganus, M. alis, and M. boucheti. A lectotype is designated for Purpura monodonta Blainville, 1832. The work also reports new regional records for numerous southwest Pacific taxa and includes SEM figures of the protoconchs of 47 species. This Zenodo entry has been prepared by the Institute for Molluscan Systematics (IMS) as a bibliographic and archival reference record within its curated literature framework for Coralliophilinae and associated Muricoidea. Any attached file is included solely within that archival and documentary context. Unless the relevant redistribution rights have been explicitly established, this record should be understood principally as a bibliographic and archival reference entry, and not as an open republication of the original work.
