Ioannes Pontanus vocem quae 'allitteratio' dicitur in Latinam linguam induxit ad verbum Graecum 'paromoeon' interpretandum, quo a saeculo I a. Chr. n. Latini scriptores usi sunt. Itaque, ope huius commentarii funditus investigatur quomodo Pontanus de hac figura disputaverit. Nam, pars prior de hoc insignis humanistae loco, saepius, non recte explanato, novam explicationem proponit, ubi fontes, ars metrica, lingua sermonisque contextus scienter perspiciuntur. In parte autem altera de varia significatione et multiplici usu voci 'alliterationis' in universo hoc opere Pontani auctor disputat atque in nonnullas questiones de textu constituendo necnon eodem recte intellegendo diligentius inquirit.
