Abstract

Le relazioni diplomatiche tra la Repubblica di Cina (RDC) e i Paesi dell’America Latina sono strettamente legate alla complessa architettura che regola i rapporti tra la Repubblica Popolare Cinese (RPC), gli Stati Uniti e Taiwan. Dei quattordici alleati diplomatici che riconoscono la Repubblica di Cina, otto sono in America Latina e nei Caraibi. Inevitabilmente, la regione è diventata il terreno di scontro tra Taipei e Pechino e la capacità taiwanese di affermare la propria sovranità nell’arena internazionale è strettamente legata alla proiezione in America Latina. Allo stesso tempo, la sopravvivenza diplomatica di Taiwan è un elemento centrale nella competizione tra la Repubblica Popolare Cinese e gli Stati Uniti.
