Abstract

Scheda sul Trittico realizzato da Hugo van der Goes, uno dei maggiori esponenti della pittura fiamminga del secondo Quattrocento, per Tommaso Portinari, rappresentante del Banco Mediceo a Bruges e consigliere del duca di Borgogna, destinato all'altare maggiore della chiesa di Sant'Egidio a Firenze, la città da cui proveniva. L'opera, raffigurante l'Adorazione del Bambino fra alcuni santi che presentano i membri della famiglia Portinari inginocchiati, ebbe un forte impatto sul contesto artistico fiorentino, e si caratterizza per il realismo e l'espressività toccante delle figure e della loro gestualità.
