Abstract

La caserma dei vigili del fuoco di Vierschach in Alto Adige è progettata dallo studio di Brunico Pedevilla Architekten a seguito della vittoria di un concorso nel 2011. Si trova a 1.130 metri sul livello del mare, nella remota Val Pusteria, al confine con l’Austria: l’edificio è risolto nella forma di un volume molto compatto, collocato lungo la strada di accesso. Un vero e proprio monolite in calcestruzzo faccia-vista, sapientemente modellato e idealmente intagliato per ospitare funzioni su due livelli. Gli elementi strutturali sono realizzati mediante getti di calcestruzzo faccia-vista pigmentato, così da ottenere una colorazione rossastra: il colore rosso viene scelto tanto per indicare la funzione dell’edificio quanto per fare emergere il monolite rispetto al paesaggio innevato che caratterizza la zona per gran parte dell’anno. L’involucro presenta ben 60 centimetri di spessore e oltre alle sue qualità strutturali, garantisce una elevata capacità termica data dalle proprietà di accumulo di calore che caratterizzano il particolare impasto cementizio utilizzato: si tratta di un hight-density lightweight concrete, confezionato mediante un cemento caratterizzato da un basso calore di idratazione e aggregati Liapor - sabbia artificiale e argilla espansa.
