Abstract

Dal Morro do Castelo all’Oceano.

As responsible for the International Bilateral Agreement with the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and with the Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, together with some teachers of the Departamento de Projeto de Arquitetura we have identified in Rio de Janeiro some urban areas that the Government has interest in retraining. Consequently, we conceived, organized and created an urban design workshop, “Urban Transept. From Morro do Castelo to the ocean. Permanence and transformation of urban memory ” which took into consideration different urban parts, each with a function to rethink, following the logic of the transformation and permanence of historical memory. As responsible of the International Bilateral Agreement with the Universidad del Salvador (USAL) of Buenos Aires, together with some professors of the Facultad de Arte y Arquitectura, who for years have been working on landscape themes and on some territories, mostly falling in Patagonia, subjects to desertification and depopulation, we have started a research on new typologies for housing settlements in the aforementioned areas.
