Le mutazioni fisico-spaziali indotte dai fenomeni di urbanizzazione e di crescita dell’edificato degli ultimi decenni ci restituiscono città dilatate, apparentemente aperte ma all’interno delle quali prosperano condizioni di separatezza, di chiusura e di vera e propria esclusione. Dominano dunque due caratteri apparentemente inconciliabili, la discontinuità e la chiusura. Entrambi si manifestano in vario modo, investono sia la dimensione fisico-spaziale che quella sociale ed economica, danno vita ad una rete di interrelazioni che orientano e condizionano le esperienze materiali ed immateriali degli abitanti. La città lascia vuoti e l’habitat si compone di materiali e flussi eterogenei sempre più privi di relazioni e di scambi riconoscibili. Edilizia, infrastrutture, tracce di un’urbanizzazione aliena la cui brutale semplificazione - case, asfalto, terra - lasciano emergere la presenza di uno strato preesistente che ci appare devitalizzato, afono e silente. Esso comprende spazi che richiedono un nuovo statuto tra naturale e artificiale, da costruire sulla base di programmi di mescolanza di qualità figurativa, contenuti sociali, funzioni. Gli spazi liberi, i sistemi vegetali, i tracciati viari che penetrano nella città, le asperità orografiche che hanno impedito o rallentato l’edificazione, identificano uno strato disponibile, dotato di qualità infrastrutturanti, funzionale per la vitalizzazione di tessuti urbani e territoriali in sofferenza. Come un nuovo sistema linfatico che non ricerca ordine e figure compiute il paesaggio si propone come una superstruttura coagulante, fondata sulle possibilità, aperta a successive trasformazioni nel tempo.

The physical-spatial mutations brought about by the urbanization and growth phenomena of the built-up (built environment) of the last decades give us back dilated cities, apparently open but where conditions of separation, closure and real exclusion thrive. So, two seemingly irreconciliabile characters dominate, the discontinuity and the closure. Both manifest themselves in various ways, investing the physical-spatial dimension as well as the social and economic ones, giving life to a network of interrelations that direct and condition the material and immaterial experiences of the inhabitants. The city is empty and the habitat is made up of heterogeneous materials and flows that are increasingly devoid of recognizable relations and exchanges. Construction, infrastructure, traces of an alien urbanization whose brutal simplification - houses, asphalt, earth - let emerge the presence of a pre-existing layer that appears devitalized, aphonic and silent. It includes spaces that require a new status between natural and artificial to be built on the basis of mixing programs of figurative quality, social contents, functions. The free spaces, the plant systems, the roads that penetrate the city, the orographic bumps that have prevented or slowed the construction identify an available layer endowed with infrastructural qualities and functional for the vitalization of urban and territorial fabrics in distress. As a new lymphatic system that does not look for order and figures, the landscape is intended as a coagulant superstructure based onpossibilities, open to further transformations over time.
