In Danimarca, a nord dell’isola di Siælland, nella città di Fredensborg, sul bordo meridionale dell’abitato circostante il Fredensborg Slot, residenza estiva della famiglia reale, è situato l’insediamento residenziale che Jørn Utzon ha progettato nel 1959 per l’Associazione dei danesi tornati in patria, dopo una lunga carriera svolta in prevalenza nel corpo diplomatico, in modo che potessero vivere in una comunità e condividere le loro esperienze. L’ampio terreno in pendenza è circondato da boschi e campi e forma un bellissimo sfondo per la serie esuberante di edifici cubici, che sono raggruppati in sequenza come le dita di una mano. Costruite in mattoni gialli, con frontoni a gradoni e potenti camini, ognuna delle 77 case è fortemente individuale e reca al suo interno il segno personale degli abitanti... In Denmark, north of the island of Siælland, in the town of Fredensborg, on the southern edge of the village surrounding the Fredensborg Slot, the summer residence of the royal family, is located the residential settlement that Jørn Utzon designed in 1959 for the Association of Danes who returned home, after a long career carried out mainly in the diplomatic corps, so that they could live in a community and share their experiences. The large sloping terrain is surrounded by woods and fields and forms a beautiful backdrop for the exuberant series of cubic buildings, which are grouped in sequence as the fingers of one hand. Built of yellow bricks, with stepped gables and powerful fireplaces, each of the 77 houses is highly individual and bears the personal mark of the inhabitants. The article is composed of a couple of pages. In the first there is the plan of the intervention and an explanatory text; in the second, generally, one of the most representative nuclei of the complex analyzed, seen in plan, elevation and section so as to have in a single original drawing the most relevant information on the character of the building and architecture.
