Abstract

Il K. è una regione autonoma dell'I. La popolazione curda è stimabile intorno ai 5.200.000 abitanti, perlopiù concentrati nelle aree urbane. La dura politica anti-curda sotto Saddam Hussein spinse buona parte della popolazione nelle città, dove spicca per dimensioni la capitale Erbil, che conta 1.039.000 residenti, seguita da Dahuk e As-Sulaymaniyah.
