Abstract

La Corea del Nord è uno dei Paesi meno accessibili al mondo, forse il più frainteso. Occupa i pensieri delle diplomazie, si fa incasellare come un reperto della guerra fredda, come una mutazione impazzita del ceppo comunista. Eppure, suo malgrado – o malgrado i nostri tentativi di conoscenza, di applicazione razionale alla sua realtà sociopolitica– il regime di Pyongyang dissemina intorno a sé suggestioni tenaci e avvolgenti. Nella dialettica fra i due lati del 38° parallelo, le rappresentazioni che la Corea del Sud ha coltivato della Repubblica Democratica Popolare seguono l’oscillografo della Storia, dalla pervasiva propaganda anticomunista degli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta, agli anni Settanta e Ottanta in cui un formidabile strumento di comunicazione come il cinema d’animazione si fa veicolo dei valori sudcoreani e baluardo contro l’aggressività del Nord, fino agli ultimi due decenni, in cui la Corea del Sud – attraverso la sua canzone, il cinema, la narrativa, persino la pubblicità – impara a interrogarsi davvero sui fratelli separati.
