Abstract

Generalmente, parlando di modelli nella rappresentazione architettonica si fa riferimento ai modelli geometrici: prospettici, assonometrici, in doppia proiezione ortogonale, in proiezione quotata. Questi modelli costituiscono i "metodi di rappresentazione", con i quali l'architetto trascrive sul foglio di carta bidimensionale il corpo a tre dimensioni. I risultati così ottenuti in base al codice adottato, testimoniano - con un grado di maggiore o minore aderenza alla percezione - sulla forma del corpo oggetto di studio, permettono di effettuare tutte le operazioni di misura, inoltre consentono, usando all'inverso lo stesso codice col quale è avvenuta la trascrizione, di ripassare dalla rappresentazione bidimensionale al corpo oggettivo tridimensionale nella sua forma, grandezza e posizione nello spazio. Accanto a queste trascrizioni bidimensionali di una realtà tridimensionale, trovano un loro ben definito ed autorevole spazio i modelli architettonici, rappresentazione tridimensionale di una realtà tridimensionale. Intendiamo quelle maquette o plastici, realizzati nei più svariati materiali, utilizzati dai progettisti per controllare, verificare, misurare le loro idee.
