This century made its debut in Europe with the arrival of a certain number of refugees fleeing persecutions, bombing and poverty in their countries of origin, like Afghanistan and Iraq. Certainly, the vast majority of refugees resorted to neighbouring countries like Pakistan and Iran, yet another share, including unaccompanied minors (Uams), managed to make it to Europe. According to EU legislation, Uams are described as “minor who arrives on the territory of an EU member State unaccompanied by the adult responsible for them by law or by the practice of the EU member State concerned, and for as long as they are not effectively taken into the care of such a person. This contribution aims at analysing and illustrating the main features of Uams migration along with the strenght and weakness of the policies of asylum and integration concerning these specific and particularly vulnerable group of migrants.
