Abstract

Attraverso documenti e testimonianze poco note o del tutto inedite, il contributo mette a fuoco il rapporto fra il professore torinese Tommaso Vallauri e il letterato calabrese Diego Vitrioli, e illustra la ricezione del poemetto latino di quest'ultimo, lo "Xiphias", vincitore nel 1845 della medaglia d'onore nel concorso internazionale di poesia latina denominato 'Certamen Hoeufftianum', negli ambienti accademici della Penisola, investita in quegli anni dal vento nuovo della filologia tedesca.
