Abstract

Nessuna definizione di donna può da sola spiegare il femminile. Ci sono donne in carriera e casalinghe soddisfatte, donne per le quali è importante la taglia 40-42 e donne che esibiscono le loro rotondità con fierezza, mogli fedeli e donne con più amanti, donne che non sopportano l’infedeltà del compagno e altre che la vivono come libertà dall’accudimento perenne, donne che gestiscono con oculatezza e libertà il corpo e il sesso e altre che non amano né il proprio corpo né il sesso, donne orgogliose delle proprie scelte e delle proprie prerogative e donne insoddisfatte, donne scienziate e donne letterate, donne che risparmiano e donne che spendono follie per un paio di scarpe. Il libro racconta come tutti questi aspetti del femminile siano legittimi, ma anche come talvolta producano nelle stesse donne un conflitto con la propria libertà, il proprio desiderio di seduzione, il riconoscimento di carisma e di autorevolezza, e come gli affetti e il senso di responsabilità siano vissuti in molteplici modi. Ecco allora che le donne sono al contempo vagabonde, irrequiete, curiose, sottomesse, autoritarie, competitive, ribelli, leali, modeste, sobrie, operose, misericordiose, leggiadre, taciturne, graziose, fedeli, irreprensibili, violente e altro ancora. Si tratta di non negare, banalizzare o sacralizzare il femminile.
