Abstract

L'Alicante Henri Bouchet è stato ottenuto nel 1855 presso mil Domaine la Calmette (francia) da Henri Bouschet incrociando il Grenache con il Petit Bouschet (il Petit Bouschet è un incrociotra Aramon noir e Teinturier ottenuto dal padre di Louis Bouchet, padre di Henri). Incorciando le medesime varietà, Henri Bouschet ottenne una serie di vitigni molto simili all'Alicante Henri Bouschet, poi abbandonati e scomparsi tranne che l'Alicante Bouchet no. 2, che spesso e coltivato insieme all'Alicante Henri Bouschet con il quale di confonde (Robinson et al., 2012). Per le sue caratteristiche di altra produttività e soprattutto per le sua uva tintoria (antociani anche nella polpa) ha avuto molto diffusione, soprattutto in nel sud della Francia e in Spagna, ma nel corso degli utimi anni la sua coltivazione si sta riducendo drasticamente. Mentre, la sia coltivazione sta gradualmente aumentando in Portogallo (Robinson et al., 2012). In Italia è sporadicamente presente in Toscana, Sardegna e Calabria, dove talvolta è confuso con l'Alicante che è un sinonimo di Grenache (uno dei suoi genitori). Limitatamente è coltivato anche in altri paesi europei, del Mediterraneo e nelle Americhe (Robinson et al., 2012). Per il suo alto contenuto in antociani è spesso utilizzato in uvaggio per apportare colore al vino, ma a causa della sua scarsa struttura raramente è vinificato in purezza.
