Influenza del cadmio sull’accrescimento del miscanto

Abstract

Il cadmio è considerato uno dei contaminanti in tracce più pericolosi in quanto presenta elevata persistenza e mobilità nell’ambiente ed elevato bioaccumulo. Alla concentrazione di 3 mg L-1 il cadmio riduce marcatamente la crescita del miscanto con effetti visibili già dopo 20 d di trattamento sia sulla parte aerea che su quella ipogea. Il Cd inibisce completamente l’allungamento del culmo e accelera l’invecchiamento delle foglie. La morfologia dell’apparato radicale risulta fortemente modificata dal Cd con la formazione di radici molto corte e spesse che presentano numerosi abbozzi di radici laterali. Tale morfologia riduce il volume di terreno esplorabile dalla pianta e quindi la sua potenzialità di acquisire risorse.
