Ontogenia, agency e relazioni tra umano e non-umano

Abstract

L’archeologia si occupa di studiare e comprendere i cambiamenti e si potrebbe addirittura asserire che «abbia un senso unicamente per il suo carattere educativo e trasformativo». Negli ultimi 20 anni, l’archeologia teorica ha sviluppato un approccio ontologico, legato alla materialità delle cose, ma mettere al centro il suo carattere trasformativo vuol dire proporre uno spostamento epistemologico dall’ontologia all’ontogenia. Se l’ontologia riguarda ciò che qualcosa deve possedere per essere, l’ontogenia riguarda come essa si genera, la sua crescita e trasformazione. Osservare tutto come un continuo divenire permette di evidenziare l’intreccio di relazioni che si ramificano «attraverso [un] network in continua espansione di influenza e di agency», che gli umani condividono con i non-umani e questi ultimi con ciò che è diverso da loro. In questa visione di un mondo più-che-umano, è possibile superare una concezione ancora fortemente antropocentrica dell’archeologia, per addivenire a una lettura realmente simmetrica in cui l’umano abbandoni il ruolo di perno attorno al quale far ruotare l’equilibrio tra umano e non-umano, ma che non sia scevra di risposte e di interpretazioni anche a livello sociale e culturale.
