Abstract

L'article rappelle l'oeuvre de Maurizio Catani, l’un des pionniers dans le champ de la recherche anthropologique et de l’ethnographie sociale sur les émigrations et les immigrations . L’originalité de son œuvre et de sa contribution à la recherche sur les migrations montre des similitudes avec la pensée d’Abdelmalek Sayad . L’œuvre de Catani reste presque méconnue tout comme celle d’autres auteurs qui mériteraient autant de reconnaissance que celle justement accordée à Sayad (je pense, entre autres, à Paul Vieille et à Michel Oriol). Revenir sur ces auteurs n’est pas un hommage de vieux chercheur à de vieux amis et collègues, mais une revalorisation de leurs contributions en faveur d’une perspective pluridisciplinaire portant en particulier sur l’histoire sociale, l’ethnographie et la critique des sciences politiques et sociales lorsqu’elles se configurent comme savoirs de la domination (Catani et Sayad).
