Architectural typology vs. behavioural typology

Abstract

Dal punto di vista disciplinare siamo abituati a classificare gli edifici e le architetture in base al loro uso, cioè alle specificità e peculiarità che da questo ne derivano, a riconoscerle e distinguerle per tipologia, attività, caratteri distributivi, a studiarle e progettarle in relazione alle diverse esigenze espresse dalle necessità insediate. Secondo i consueti parametri tipologici, tendiamo inconsciamente a far prevalere il contenitore sul contenuto, le caratteristiche spaziali e materiche dell’edificio sui comportamenti e le attività umane, la consistenza costruttiva sull’abitare. Per questa via l’aeroporto, la stazione, l’ospedale, il centro commerciale, la piazza, sono tradizionalmente considerati come ambiti diversi e specifici come se fossero il treno, l’aereo, la sala operatoria e non già le persone, con le loro necessità, a partecipare individualmente e collettivamente alla vita della comunità, il soggetto del lavoro di ricerca e interpretazione affidato al progetto. Al contrario se alla tipologia architettonica sostituiamo l’idea di una tipologia dei comportamenti non è difficile comprendere come le differenze sul piano “tecnico” tendano a ridursi fino a confondersi e scomparire nella sostanza di ciò che viene costruito e abitato.
