Les programmes décoratifs des intérieurs domestiques font partie de la culture matérielle de la ville historique et peuvent être notables pour la reconnaissance de la valeur culturelle d’un ensemble architectonique et urbain. En sont les exemples, dans la Lisbonne Pombaline, les azulejos, les peintures murales, les stucs décoratifs et les plafonds en bois qui intègrent aujourd’hui le palimpseste de plus de deux cents ans d’utilisation et de transformation. Les auteurs mettent en relief le potentiel informatif de sources primaires, tels les contrats de travaux de l’époque, les registres d’inventaires et les compte rendus de travaux privés, pour établir un tableau cohérent des diferentes solutions décoratives. Une approche méthodologique qui, une fois intégrée dans le diagnostic direct et testée sur l’ensemble, pourra orienter son analyse et sa conservation
The decorative programmes of domestic interiors are part of the historic city’s material culture and may prove relevant for recognizing the cultural significance of an architectural and urban ensemble. Some examples of this in Pombaline Lisbon (Lisboa Pombalina) are the glazed ceramic tiles, the wall paintings, the decorative stuccoes, and the timber ceilings, included today in a palimpsest of over 200 years of use and transformation. The authors highlight the informative potential of primary sources such as period building contracts, inventory registers, and private works’ records to draw a coherent picture of the different decorative solutions. A methodological approach that, combined with direct diagnosis and planned out for the ensemble, may improve their analysis and conservation.
Os programas decorativos dos interiores domésticos fazem parte da cultura material da cidade histórica e podem ser relevantes no reconhecer do valor cultural de um conjunto arquitectónico e urbano. São disso exemplo, na Lisboa Pombalina, os azulejos, as pinturas murais, os estuques decorativos e os tectos em madeira que integram hoje o palimpsesto de mais de 200 anos de uso e de transformação. Os autores destacam o potencial informativo de fontes primárias, como contratos de obra de época, registos de inventário e processos de obra particulares, para o traçar de um quadro coerente das diferentes soluções decorativas. Uma abordagem metodológica que, integrada com o diagnóstico directo e ensaiada para o conjunto, poderá orientar a sua análise e conservação.
