Abstract

Il contributo esplora attraverso la analisi diretta dei manufatti - condotti a seguito di di alcuni viaggi in Portogallo (Lisbona, Porto, Coimbra, Obidos, Nazarè) e negli stati brasiliani di Bahia e di Pernambuco le modalità di impiego degli azulejos nella definizione architettonica di numerose opere edilizie monumentali. La ricerca è stata estesa anche all'ambito dei secoli XIX (Recife) e XX (Porto, in Portogallo; Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, con particolare riguardo all'opera di O. Niemeyer e di Athos Bulkao).
