Abstract

Ancora oggi le imprese controllate e gestite da famiglie sono una presenza diffusa e mostrano un elevato grado di efficienza. Nel Novecento l’avvento della grande impresa integrata ha provocato in alcuni sistemi economici l’affermazione della public company e la decisa separazione fra proprietà e controllo dell’impresa; in altri invece l’incremento nelle dimensioni non solo si è risolto nel mantenimento di una concentrazione proprietaria nelle mani di singoli o gruppi famigliari, ma anche in una sorprendente capacità gestionale. Attraverso un’ampia comparazione, il volume propone un’analisi articolata dell’emergere e del persistere del family business nel corso del processo di industrializzazione delle economie contemporanee, insieme a un’indagine dei fattori che concorrono a plasmarne le molteplici fisionomie nel corso del tempo e in diversi contesti geografici e sociali.
