Abstract

Il saggio rende omaggio all’opera scientifica di Elio Dovere, riconoscendone il ruolo decisivo nello studio del diritto tardoantico. Dopo aver tracciato un profilo dello studioso, si illustrano i principi metodologici che ne hanno guidato il percorso scientifico, ponendo l'accento sul primato dell’indagine esegetica delle fonti legislative imperiali, la ricostruzione critica delle costituzioni e il sapiente ricorso alle fonti extragiuridiche.
