Abstract

“Dante Alighieri 'architetto perfetto'” trae il titolo dal giudizio di Galileo Galilei su un aspetto quasi sconosciuto dell'universo del Sommo Poeta. In realtà del rapporto con l’Architettura esistono precise e sostanziali coincidenze nelle opere dantesche. Inoltre sin dal XV secolo, la Divina Commedia era stata “letta e descritta come un’architettura”. Da Brunelleschi parte infatti una straordinaria stagione speculativa in cui la “travolgente topografia” dantesca viene sottoposta a spettacolari analisi. Illustri architetti e studiosi dibattono e polemizzano per tutto il Rinascimento fino a Galileo Galilei. Tra Illuminismo e Romanticismo il rapporto si arricchisce della tematica riguardante il carattere “gotico” di Dante e l’analogia della Comedia con la cattedrale gotica. Gli omaggi a Dante dell’architettura moderna e del design sono molteplici e inattesi, specie da parte di grandi visionari che condividono con Dante la straordinaria ampiezza del sentire creativo, quali Antoni Gaudì, Mario Palanti, Giuseppe Terragni, Norman Bel Geddes.
