Ricostruzione virtuale dello stabilimento "Roma"

Abstract

La demolizione dello stabilimento “Roma” a Ostia, il Lido di Roma – imposta dal comando tedesco nel settembre del 1943 su diverse emergenze costiere del Tirreno – interrompe il particolare rapporto dialettico stabilito tra Ostia ed il suo mare, generando una consistente alterazione nelle coscienze dei cittadini e una profonda frattura nel tessuto urbano. Unicum nell’esperienza progettuale del suo ideatore Giovanni Battista Milani, accademico e professionista della Scuola Romana, il Roma viene inaugurato il 10 agosto 1924, nell’ambito di un ambizioso programma di riqualificazione del litorale romano. Fondale prospettico dell’asse urbano attestato sulla chiesa Regina Pacis di Giulio Magni, il padiglione permanente sul mare del “Roma”, assurge a icona del ‘loisir’: prima ed eclatante espressione della trasformazione della borgata marina del litorale romano. Operando mediante il rilievo della memoria, il contributo intende fornire tasselli conoscitivi che consentano di tracciare la storia progettuale di un’architettura perduta, restituendo un quadro plausibile di un luogo scomparso, attraverso la ricca documentazione fotografica, iconografica e testuale che affianca i disegni di progetto originali e le ricostruzioni virtuali.
