La Commedia dell'Arte

Abstract

Nel corso di circa due secoli, approssimativamente dalla metà del XVI fino alla metà del XVIII, irradiandosi dalla penisola italiana nelle principali piazze europee, si afferma e si consolida la Commedia dell’Arte, un particolare modo di fare spettacolo dai tratti specifici e ben riconoscibili, che si propone come evidente novità rispetto ai moduli rappresentativi offerti fino a quel momento dalla commedia rinascimentale. Si tratta essenzialmente di un sistema teatrale di successo che privilegia l’economia del fare e del distribuire spettacolo in regime di libero mercato a fronte degli allestimenti aristocratico-letterari attestati nella prima parte del Cinquecento e pensati per un pubblico scelto e di cultura elevata. Dopo circa due secoli di ininterrotta fortuna il declino viene sancito convenzionalmente dalla riforma di Goldoni a favore di un testo scritto per esteso e di un teatro senza maschere. Nel corso dell’Ottocento invece la Commedia dell’Arte entra nell'immaginario comune alla stregua di un mito fino alla sua riscoperta primonovecentesca.
