Abstract

I disturbi del pavimento pelvico, che comprendono l’incontinenza urinaria, l’incontinenza fecale e il prolasso degli organi pelvici, sono un importante problema sociale, interessando prevalentemente donne che abbiano avuto almeno un parto per via naturale [1]. L’esame clinico sottostima oppure non riconosce con precisione l’origine del prolasso nel 45%-90% delle Pazienti, soprattutto nel gruppo con presenza di più disfunzioni pelviche [2]. Il planning operatorio si avvantaggia notevolmente di un esame di imaging che valuti nel complesso le strutture del pavimento pelvico e il rapporto funzionale tra di loro, riducendo in tal modo l'incidenza della recidiva di sintomatologia dopo intervento correttivo su un singolo compartimento, che si manifesta nel 10%-30% dei casi [3]. La Risonanza Magnetica (RM) grazie al buon differenziamento dei tessuti, all’elevata risoluzione spaziale e di contrasto ed all’ampio campo di vista, insieme alla possibilità di procedere con esami dinamici (durante ponzamento e contrazione), é diventata uno degli esami più importanti della diagnostica per immagini in grado di approfondire le informazioni ottenute durante l’esame clinico.
