Abstract

This entry focusses on Contemporary Chinese Legal Language (CCLL), that is, the language variety that is used today in legal texts of Mainland China. In giving a working definition for CCLL, this entry provides a classification of the texts where CCLL is used and shows their main linguistic features. As the entry shows, the notion of CCLL and the related notion of Chinese legal texts are rather broad and blurred, and exhaustive descriptions can hardly be done.
