Morisco e moriscos in Cervantes e Lope de Vega

Abstract

Questo studio vuole esaminare la rappresentazione letteraria della “cuestión morisca” che emerge dalle opere di Cervantes e Lope de Vega, analizzando i diversi approcci assunti nei confronti di questo nodo storico-culturale, che ha fortemente segnato il percorso e l’identità del paese nel corso dei Secoli d’Oro. Dallo studio delle commedie di Lope e di alcune fra le opere di Cervantes si traggono, infatti, immagini ben diverse, talvolta anche apparentemente discordanti, dei personaggi mori e moriscos; tale disparità corrisponde non solo a due personalità differenti, entrambe di capitale importanza nel XVII secolo, ma anche a due diversi modi di guardare al contesto storico e sociale a loro contemporaneo, attraverso la lente di due mezzi letterari altrettanto distinti, il teatro e il romanzo in prosa.
