Abstract

L’acronimo LGBTQIA+ designa tutte le persone che per orientamento sessuale, identità e/o espressione di genere, caratteristiche anatomiche non aderiscono agli standard del binarismo cisessuale e dell’eterosessualità. Esso conferisce quindi coesione ai movimenti delle minoranze sessuali, veicolando l’idea che esse costituiscano un unico gruppo sociale. Ma evidenzia anche la molteplicità delle soggettività che tiene assieme, per evitare che alcune ottengano un eccesso di visibilità e occultino le altre. L’unità evocata dalla sigla non impedisce quindi, e anzi incoraggia l’emergere di divisioni interne a quella che può essere considerata una comunità soltanto in senso contingente e pluralistico. Il libro ricostruisce in modo agile e sintetico le tensioni dialettiche che nell’ultimo secolo e mezzo hanno attraversato, e ancora attraversano, i movimenti LGBTQIA+, conducendoli a importanti conquiste e ponendoli di fronte a problemi nuovi.
