Eski Türkçe ele-’den Çağdaş Uygurca elley’e

Abstract

Comparison of the meaning and form of the words which from differenthistorical periods of Turkish language reached to Modern Turkic languages hasgreat importance for revealing the integrity of Turkic from past to present. It ispossible to see the words used thousands of years before today in both modernTurkic languages and in different dialects of Turkic languages. In particular, some words that are rare even in the oldest texts and which are not very commonin modern Turkic languages or that have changed in form and semantically are indications of the oldness and continuity of Turkic. Some words in the oldestTurkic manuscripts have been evaluated by various researchers. The vocabularyof historical monuments and vocabulary of modern Turkic languages have beenthe subject of some comparative studies. As a result of these studies, it is tried toclarify the origin of old words in modern Turkic languages. In this study, I willtry to explain that the origin of the word elley, which has a very special place inmodern Uyghhur, is based on the Old Turkic ele-. The verb ele-, first attested inthe inscription of Dongoin Shiree dating from the VIII century and continuedwith examples of Uyghhur Buddhist works and reached to the present Uyghhurlanguage.

Türk dilinin farklı tarihî dönemlerinden Çağdaş Türk dillerine ulaşan sözcüklerinanlam ve şekil bakımından karşılaştırılması Türkçenin geçmişten günümüzekadar uzanan bütünlüğünü ortaya koymak için büyük önem arz eder.Günümüzden binlerce yıl öncesinde kullanılan sözleri gerek çağdaş Türkdillerinde gerekse Türk dillerinin farklı ağızlarında görmek mümkündür.Özellikle, en eski metinlerde bile nadir rastlanan ve Çağdaş Türk dilleri arasındada pek yaygın olmayan veya şeklen ve anlamsal olarak değişime uğrayan kimisözler Türkçenin eskiliğinin ve devamlılığının göstergesidir. Türkçenin en eskimetinlerinde geçen bir kısım sözcükler çeşitli araştırmacılar tarafındandeğerlendirilmiştir; tarihî eserlerin söz varlığı ile günümüz Türk dillerinin sözvarlığı bazı karşılaştırmalı çalışmalara konu olmuştur. Bu çalışmalar sonucundagünümüz Türk dillerindeki eskicil sözcüklerin kökeni aydınlatılmayaçalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmamda Çağdaş Uygurcada çok özel bir yeri olan elleysözünün kökeninin Eski Türkçe ele- filine dayandığını açıklamaya çalışacağım.ele- filinin geçtiği ilk metin VIII. yüzyıldan kalma Dongoyn Şiree yazıtı olupUygurca Budist eserlerdeki örnekleriyle devam etmiş ve günümüz Uygurcasınakadar ulaşabilmiştir.
