La Columna Trajana como instrumento de propaganda política de las Guerras Dacias

Abstract

Desde los primeros momentos de la Historia (realmente, desde la Prehistoria), el arte se ha utilizado frecuentemente al objeto de que sirviera para encauzar la opinión mayoritaria hacia un determinado concepto o idea de interés minoritario. Ya tenemos palpables casos en Sumer, Egipto… Pero, desde luego, los maestros en la pragmática “cultura” de servirse de las manifestaciones artísticas para favorecer determinadas ideas -principalmente políticas influyendo subliminarmente sobre el pueblo, han sido los romanos. Resultaría amplísimo tratar la evolución de esta praxis a lo largo de la existencia de Roma, motivo por el que esta ponencia se centra en un único caso, asumido como paradigma de la instrumentalización del arte como propaganda: el emperador Trajano y su aceptada utilización de la llamada Columna Trajana como exaltación personal de sus victorias en la Guerras Dacias.
