Morteros

Authors: Álvarez Galindo, José Ignacio; Ontiveros Ortega, Esther;
Abstract

Inglés: For many years now, the conservation of historical buildings has required the use of mortar suitable for this type of work. Portland cement mortars have proven ineffective in this sense, prompting the need to recover old, forgotten techniques for preparing lime mortar. This requires the establishment of a study methodology, which will often combine techniques used for natural stone but may sometimes have specific characteristics defined for this type of material (characterisation of the aggregate, binder, etc.). Restoration mortars must be studied not just in terms of their characterisation but also from the standpoint of their compatibility with historical materials.
