En los últimos 10 años hemos asistido a un descenso de la confianza de los ciudadanos en la democracia. Este proceso, vinculado a la crisis económica, ha frenado el ritmo de democratización que vivía el mundo desde hace décadas. Si continua esta tendencia podría ponerse en peligro los axiomas de la Teoría de la Paz Democrática y convertir al mundo en un lugar aun menos pacífico. Para evitar este proceso la democracia debe atender no solo a la dimensión política sino también a la social, convirtiendo a la democracia en un sistema político más sostenible.

n the last 10 years we appreciate a decline in the public support on democracy. This process, linked to the economic crisis has slowed the pace of democratization living world for decades. If this trend continues it could endanger the axioms of the Democratic Peace Theory and make the world an even less peaceful place. To avoid this process democracy should be not focused only on the political dimension but also on the social one. Following this way democracy should be a more sustainable political system.
