Competencia Emocional Docente: la revolución interior.

Abstract

Throughout this article we provide data that support the interest and need for the development of emotional competence of teachers as a pillar of the evolution of the current role of the teacher and as a factor of protection against the Burn-Out effect in this profession. At the same time, a definition of what is emotional teacher competence is offered in order to present a clear reference for teachers who intend to initiate this development in their profession. It also proposes the model of emotional work that is deduced from the Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for the affective development of the teacher and the emotional work in the classroom. Finally, some self-observation strategies are provided for the stimulation of self-consciousness.
