La fascitis plantar afecta aproximadamente al 10% de la población a lo largo de su vida. Existen algunos factores que incrementan el riesgo de padecer esta patología entre los que destacan la obesidad y permanecer periodos de tiempo prolongados en bipedestación o caminando sobre superficies duras. En este trabajo se describen las causas que producen esta patología, los síntomas y signos así como su diagnóstico diferencial resaltando sobre todo los diferentes tratamientos que se suelen utilizar (invasivos y no invasivos) y la eficacia de los mismos. Por último se establece un protocolo para el tratamiento conservador de la fascitis plantar.
Plantar fasciitis affects approximately 10% of the population throughout their lives. There are some factors that increase the risk for this pathology among which obesity and prolonged periods remain standing or walking on hard surfaces. This paper describes the causes underlying this pathology, symptoms and signs as well as the differential diagnosis especially highlighting the different treatments that are commonly used (invasive and noninvasive) and effectiveness of these. Finally establishing a protocol for conservative treatment of plantar fasciitis.
