Abstract

ABSTRACT COMPACTED / VERMICULAR GRAPHITE IRON PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES AND THE SECTION SENSITIVITY OF COMPACTED/VERMICULAR GRAPHITE IRON YAŞAR, Gürolhan M.S., Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Ekrem SELÇUK September 1996, 110 pages. In this thesis, appropriate treatment techniques for the production and the effect of section sensitivity on graphite morphology of vermicular / compacted graphite cast iron have been investigated. Test specimens were obtained from standard stepped-blocks which were cast seperately after molten metal is treated with three different treatment materials. (FeSiMg, FeSiMgTi, FeSiMg cermish metal) to attain different Mg/S ratios. Specimens were studied by optical metallographic methods. Thermal conductivities of specimens are tried to be measured by means of electrical conductivity changes by Wheatstone Bridge circuit. 111In this research, the results of 12 separate trials to find, a metal composition and treatment technique to produce vermicular / compacted graphite cast iron with consistent graphite morphology on different sections, are discussed. öz VERMİKÜLER GRAFİTLİ DÖKME DEMİR ÜRETİM TEKNİKLERİ VE KESİT FARKLILI?ININ GRAFİT YAPISINA ETKİSİ YAŞAR, Gürolhan Yüksek Lisans, Malzeme ve Metalürji Mühendisliği Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi : Prof. Dr. Ekrem Selçuk Eylül 1996, 110 sayfa Bu tez çalışmasında, vermiküler grafitli dökme demir üretimi,için kullanılabilecek tretman türleri ve kesif farklılığının vermiküler grafit yapısına etkisi araştırılmıştır. Deney numunelerinin çıkarıldığı standart merdiven blokları sıvı metal farklı Mg/S oranlan sağlanacak şekilde üç ayrı tretman malzemesi ile (FeSiMg, FeSiMgTi, FeSiMg-Cermish metal) reaksiyona sokularak döküldü. Numuneler optik metalografi yöntemleriyle incelendi. Ayrıca numunelerin elektriksel iletkenlikleri ısı iletkenliğine esas olacak şekilde ölçüldü.Bu çalışmada vermiküler grafit yapısının kesif farklılığından etkilenmeyeceği bir metal kompozisyonu ve üretim tekniği bulmaya yönelik 16 ayrı denemenin sonuçları tartışılmıştır.
