An Approach to traffic planning for medium sized cities

Abstract

ABSTRACT AN APPLICATION TO TRAFFIC PLANNING FOR MEDIUM SIZED CITIES YÜCE, Kemal Basri M. S. in Civil Engineering Supervisor : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan İNAL February, 1994, 111 pages Urban Traffic Planning process has become both standarized and complex. The methods applied to urban transportation problems yielded different solutions for different areas. Therefore it is impossible to designate a specific method which will be applicable for almost every area. The problems in areas having different characteristics has to be solved individually with methods which would suit them the best. Throughout past years, urban traffic planning methods applied in developing countries, which were formed to attack the problems of the developed world did not make the impact that was intended. Therefore simplified methods has to be formed for developing countries which utilizes the specific characteristics of the area and attacks to the problem taking into consideration all of the available data.
