Burdur fayının paleosismolojik özellikleri

Abstract

Fethiye-Burdur Fault zone is active and composed of different segments which isNE-SW direction. This zone approximately 300 km in length and has consist of leftlateral handed normal faults. This zone is divided 3 section as Yassıgüme-Çendik,Burdur ve Gölbaşı-Gökçebağ segments. Burdur Neogene Basin is NE-SW directeddepression Basin which form Plio-Quaternary aged Alluvial and Lacustrinalsediments. Especially big earthquakes in 1914 and 1971 years effected to BurdurCity. Earthquake epicentres in historical and instrumental periods are concentrated inSW of Burdur Lake. So that Burdur and Yassıgüme segments are investigated as apaleoseismologically. Detailed fault map is prepared in this region. A trench is openon the Burdur segment. A section of road is benefited in Yassıgüme segment. Intrench belong to Burdur fault a fault is determined. This fault may formed by theBurdur earthquake in 1914. This fault is covered a sediment in 1024/-0.3 years aged.Hence, surface rupture in 1914 years can be extended this region. In same trenchanother two faults can composed by earthquake in B.C. 53 years. A tectonical eventwhich may belong to B.C. 2250 years could be occured in trench. The fault which islocated on section of road in Yassıgüme segment may be an earthquake which wasoccured in B.C. 465-525 and it could be surface rupture.
