Zincir dişlilerinde elasto-plastik gerilme analizi

Abstract

ABSTRACT Transmission roller chains have been widely used in industry in transmission of power and motion. Because the working conditions change continuously for centuries, the production of sprocket and the other chain members, their material and the area of usage are also becoming more important. Although the transmission chains are usually made of steel, the use of composite materials is increasing in industry because of their good specific properties such as the high strength/weight ratio, and their high corrosion resistance. In this study, the elasto-plastic stress analysis of sprockets made of composite materials which are reinforced by isotropic and different orientations was made. The metals and the composite materials with metal matrixes show elasto-plastic behaviour during formation. Residual stresses also occur because of the plastic deformation. Among the numerical methods, the Finite Element Method was used for the elasto- plastic stress analysis of sprockets. For the analysis, isoparametric quadrilateral elements with nine nodes and for the interpolation function, the high degree Lagrange polynomials were used. Gauss method was used as the numerical integration method and the force vector was found by the element stiffness matrix. In order to find out the displacements the linear equations systems was solved by Gauss Elimination Method. The elasto-plastic stress analysis has been performed using initial stress method under the consideration of equivalent stress. At the end, the elasto-plastic stresses and the residual stresses were calculated by the computer program.
