Abstract

Günümüzde teknolojinin ilerlemesi ve sanayileşmenin artması; fosil kaynaklı yakıt rezervlerin hızla tükenmesine neden olmaktadır. Ayrıca son yıllarda, içten yanmalı motorlar tarafından yayılan egzoz gazlarının çevre kirliğine neden olması ve petrol rezervlerinin hızla azalması yeni motorlu taşıt yakıt alternatiflerinin bulunmasına yönelik çalışmaları hızlandırmıştır. Biyodizel üretimi sırasında atık olarak önemli miktarda gliserin meydana gelmektedir. Oluşan gliserin miktarının piyasa talebinin çok üzerinde olmasından dolayı bu yan ürünün katma değere dönüştürülmesi oldukça önemlidir. Gliserin hem doğal hem de petrokimyasal hammaddelerden elde edilir ve sanayide oldukça geniş bir kullanım alanına sahiptir. Gliserin eldesinde renk ve saflık bakımından uygun değerlere çıkılması önemlidir. Biyodizel üretim atığından gliserin eldesi amacıyla yapılan çalışmalar son yıllarda hızla artmaktadır. Yapılan tez çalışması kapsamında, biyodizel üretim atığı, ön işlemler ile adsorpsiyon prosesine uygun hale getirilmiş sonrasında da aktif karbon ve iyon değiştirici reçinelerle adsorpsiyona tabi tutulmuştur. Ön arıtıma tabi tutulmuş gliserin numunelerinde ticari aktif karbonlarla yapılan adsorpsiyon işlemlerinde renk giderimi için % 95’in üzerinde yüksek giderim verimleri elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca, reçine ile yapılan adsorpsiyon çalışmalarında da hem renk giderimi hem de tuz giderimi yapılarak iletkenlik değerinin düşmesi sağlanmıştır. Bu çalışma ile teknik saflıkta gliserin eldesi için bir prosedür geliştirilmiştir.

Today, the advancement of technology and the increase in industrialization lead to the rapid depletion of fossil fuel reserves. In addition, in recent years, exhaust gases emitted by internal combustion engines caused environmental pollution and the rapidly decreasing oil reserves have accelerated the studies for finding new motor vehicle fuel alternatives. A significant amount of glycerin is formed as waste during biodiesel production. It is very important to convert this by-product into added value since the amount of glycerine formed is much higher than the market demand. Glycerin is derived from both natural and petrochemical raw materials and has a wide range of uses in industry. It is important to reach appropriate values in terms of color and purity in obtaining glycerin. Studies to obtain glycerin from biodiesel production waste have been increasing rapidly in recent years. Within the scope of the thesis study, biodiesel production waste was made suitable for the adsorption process by pre-treatments and then it was subjected to adsorption with activated carbon and ion exchange resins. High adsorption efficiencies of over 95% were obtained for color removal in adsorption processes with commercial activated carbons in pre-treated glycerin samples. In addition, in color adsorption studies with resin, both color removal and salt removal have been achieved to reduce the conductivity value. With this study, a procedure has been developed for obtaining technical purity glycerin
