Kanalizasyon sistemlerinin diferansiyel evrim algoritması kullanılarak optimum tasarım

Abstract

The optimum design of sewage systems is one of the major engineering problems that have remained valid in recent years. A slight decrease in the installation cost of these systems provides the large amount of economic savings. For this reason, minimizing the first investment cost of sewage systems by considering hydraulic and operational constraints is among the important optimization problems considered in the literature. In this study, a solution approach which is based on the differential evolution (DE) optimization method is developed for optimum design of the sewer systems. In the developed approach, the slope of each pipe is used as the decision variable of the optimization model and the total system cost was minimized by choosing the pipe diameters from the available diameters in market depending on the obtained slope. All the physical and managerial constraints to be satisfied during the optimization process is included to the model by using the penalty function approach. The performance of the proposed approach is tested on two example systems and the similar or better results are obtained compared to the obtained results given in literature.
