Kadınların meme kanseri bilgi düzeyleri ile meme kanseri korkuları arasındaki ilişki

Abstract

Breast cancer is a common public health problem all over the world and in order to solve this problem, factors that prevent early screening behaviors need to be known. Fear of breast cancer and lack of detailed knowledge about breast cancer are the two major factors that must be dealt with. Knowledge of women's breast cancer knowledge and fear levels are important for planning interventions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the breast cancer knowledge and fear levels of women in the 40-69 age group at risk for breast cancer and to determine the relationship between them. This is a descriptive study. The sample of the study consisted of 363 women who applied to Cancer Cancer Diagnosis Screening and Training Center between May-September 2018, accepted to participate in the study and fulfilled the research criteria. Data were collected using the ''Descriptive Information Form'', ''The Comprehensive Breast Cancer Knowledge Test'' and ''Breast Cancer Fear Scale''. Kolmogorov Smirov analysis, student t, One way Anova test, chi-square analysis, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis test and Spearman correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. The mean age of the participants was 54.8±7.1. The mean score of the General Information Sub-Dimension score was 6.47±1.60, the average of the curability Sub-Dimension score was 4.26±1.47, the total knowledge score was 10.72±2.34, the mean score of breast cancer fear was 27.6±6.5. It was determined that breast cancer knowledge levels of women were not associated with fear levels. In the light of the results, it is recommended to implement programs and community-based campaigns aiming to eliminate the lack of knowledge of women, to identify the factors that cause fear in women suffering from breast cancer and to reduce their fears by providing counseling services.
